Sandalias Royal Caribbean, Jamaica

Sandalias Royal Caribbeanit is home to the first overwater bungalows ever created in the Caribbean. They are also probably the best you will find. You can choose between two different bungalows, both located on the private island of Sandals.

Overwater Villas are the larger of the two bungalow styles, with a private infinity pool, double outdoor shower, kitchen, separate living room, and oversized bathroom. Each overwater bungalow has its own butler to make your getaway as stress-free as possible.

These overwater bungalows are just a 15-minute drive from Montego Bay, one of Jamaica's most popular cities. You will also fly into this city, so you can start your vacation quickly with minimal travel.

Large Sandals St. Luciano, Saint Lucia

The only overwater bungalows in St. Lucia are on theBig Sandals St. Lucian. They couldn't have picked a better place to situate their overwater bungalows either! In Rodney Bay, the resort is situated on a private peninsula offering panoramic views and a sense of utter seclusion with calm, clear waters.

Sandalia Grande St LucianThe overwater bungalows are beautiful and have spectacular views of Pigeon Island National Park. Bungalows feature outdoor tubs, glass floors, mini-fridges, outdoor showers, and more. Each bungalow comes equipped with a personal butler.

In addition to the overwater bungalows, Sandals Grande St. Lucian has many amazing amenities that make this one of my favorite Sandals resorts. You can dine at a whopping twelve different restaurants, plus every other restaurant at the other two Sandals resorts on the island. You will also find a championship golf course nearby, with green fees included.

Sandals Costa Sur, Jamaica

south coast sandalsThe entire theme of the resort revolves around water. Everything you need on your vacation has to do with water. You can find an overwater bar, an overwater chapel, overwater cabanas, tons of swim-up suites, and of course, overwater bungalows.

Overwater bungalows are right off the resort's two-mile beach, so you can easily access a remote part of the ocean or one of its five pools. You can also snorkel directly from your private swim platform with your in-suite snorkel gear. Or just enjoy the view from your oversized tub for two.

If pools are your thing, Sandals South Coast also has exclusive Rondoval Suites that offer an overwater bungalow-like experience. Instead of being over the ocean, they are in their own private oasis, surrounded by a pool connected to each suite. It's almost like you're on a little island.

Casa Ventanas Cayo Espanto, Belize

Belize is known for its incredible snorkeling in the Caribbean, with the world's second largest barrier reef located off its shores. It makes sense to have an overwater bungalow built on these incredible waters.scare keyis a private island located off the north coast of Belize, where the waters are calmer and more relaxing.

The island resort only has one overwater bungalow among its other exclusive villas called Casa Ventanas. It is the most secluded lodge, with a 45 meter long private jetty leading to your bungalow. There are glass bottom floors to view all the fish in the reef and windows that open on all sides giving the bungalow an indoor/outdoor feel.

Although the island is small, all the inclusions you see in any other all-inclusive are available. You can book scuba adventures, get a massage on the beach, and enjoy top-notch dining. There's even a private boat that takes you to and from the mainland.

Royalton Antigua

Located just 30 minutes from Antigua International Airport are the Royalton Antigua overwater bungalows. The resort is family-friendly, but the bungalows are adults-only, making it a great wedding destination if you want to invite the whole family.

All overwater bungalows face the ocean and offer expansive ocean views. You can find a large glass floor to watch marine life, a jacuzzi, an overwater hammock, and one of the largest infinity pools I've ever seen in a bungalow. There are even private yoga instructors available for bungalow guests.

Seven restaurants and three bars are available, or you can also make a reservation to have the chef prepare a private dinner for you. While your suite features in-room dining and a cocktail shaker, you can enjoy private dining each night. The resort also has an on-site casino and various other activities available.

Palafitos El Dorada Maroma, Mexico

OPalafitosThey are the only overwater bungalows in Mexico located in the Caribbean Sea. It is also close to Playa del Carmen, one of my favorite towns in the Yucatan. Staying at Palafitos is a particular experience. However, you can still access the rest of the El Dorado resort.

Palafitos overwater bungalows offer one of the best experiences of all overwater bungalows in the Caribbean. Not only do you stay in a luxurious overwater suite, but you also have a private overwater restaurant and spa. Overwater bungalow guests are the only people authorized to access these services.

Bungalows feature butler service, infinity pool, swim-up deck, glass floors, whirlpool tubs, in-suite breakfast, and a large bar with large bottles. You will have your own snorkel gear to explore the waters and you can have kayaks on your deck.

Thatch Caye Resort, Belize

Thatch Caye Resort has some of the most affordable overwater bungalows on this list, but they still feel pricey. Each bungalow offers some of the best vibes on the island with rustic furnishings and a hammock to relax in the sea breeze.

You can choose between two different overwater bungalows. The first has a deck shared with two other bungalows and the premier bungalows have a private dock to access them. These are simple bungalows, but they offer the overwater experience you've been looking for.

Thatch Caye is a private island off the coast of Belize where only 30 guests are allowed at a time, giving you the ultimate getaway. You really get a unique experience here, as it's an eco-resort made from reclaimed materials, communal dining, and Wi-Fi only available in common areas.

Lina Point Overwater Bungalows, Belice

Lina Point, located in San Pedro on Ambergris Caye, is as close as you can get to the second largest barrier reef in the world. This overwater resort is just minutes from a marine reserve, which means you're likely to spot some incredible marine life from the glass floor.

These overwater bungalows are quite different from the others on this list because they are all family-friendly. However, they do have a honeymoon suite on the top floor of the overwater hotel if you want a romantic experience. You can also choose between a one-bedroom duplex cabin and a two-bedroom overwater cabin.

Each cabana has a plunge pool, deck swings, full kitchen, living room, and overwater hammocks. The resort has a restaurant on site, but I recommend exploring downtown San Pedro, just a five-minute drive away.

Cayo St. George, Belice

Street. George's Caye is located on the coast of Belize City, the largest and most central city in Belize. This means you have easy access to just about everything there is to do in Belize. However, you'll still get the remote island experience you'd expect on a Caribbean vacation.

There are six overwater cabins on St. George's Caye on a U-shaped dock. No matter which stateroom you stay in, you'll have fantastic views of the sunset over the ocean. Thatched roofs and floor-to-ceiling Belizean hardwood make these bungalows feel rustic and luxurious at the same time.

Each overwater bungalow has a private porch complete with a hammock. The resort can also create custom packages for you, whether you're looking for a romantic getaway or a thrill-filled adventure. They plan every detail for you and you pay a cost to cover everything.

Punta Caracol Acqua Lodge, Bocas Del Toro

The main objective of Punta Caracol is to connect with nature. Everything that went into building this lodge was done with nature in mind, from the use of renewable energy to the perfect placement of the overwater bungalows so as not to disturb the natural reef.

You can choose from three different overwater bungalows at Punta Caracol. Each has an upper level with a king-size bed and at least two single beds on the lower level. You will also find amenities such as a swimming terrace, hammocks, snorkeling equipment, a living room and two private balconies.

Some packages are available, including the honeymoon, family and anniversary package. They are incredibly affordable and are the way to go when booking your stay. Some things included are meals, welcome gifts, round-trip transfers, and afternoon tea.

Blue Paradise, Bocas Del Toro

These are my favorite Caribbean overwater bungalows on this list. Mainly because there is so much to see and do in the bungalows in addition to the fabulous suites. They are located in Bocas, so getting anywhere and doing anything is easy.

Azul Paradise has four overwater bungalows, ranging from a standard bungalow to a two-story, two-bedroom bungalow. Each comes with a glass floor, an overwater hammock, outdoor showers, a swimming platform, and outdoor furniture. My favorite bungalow is the Deluxe, with floor-to-ceiling windows that wrap around the walls.

Even though your overwater bungalow may seem like the highlight of this trip, I highly recommend you venture out. There is plenty to do at this resort, including walking to a chocolate farm, taking a tour of the mangroves, snorkeling beautiful reefs, and visiting indigenous villages.

Aruba Ocean Villas

There is only one place you can find overwater bungalows in Aruba, and that is at Aruba Ocean Villas. This adults-only boutique hotel is locally owned and operated, so you know you're in for an authentic Aruba experience.

Aruba Ocean Villas has four overwater bungalows and one partially overwater villa. These are definitely the most artistic overwater bungalows of all. Each bungalow has a unique design with parts of nature. You can find outdoor Jacuzzis, sunken hammocks, outdoor dining areas, and four-poster beds in each bungalow.

Everything at Aruba Ocean Villas is designed to be intimate. His restaurant has only ten tables, and they are all facing the sea, with one in an overwater cabana. They also have a range of experiences made just for their guests, from live music to garden massages.
